Simona Denicolai en Ivo Provoost blazen systematisch alle beveiligingsmechanismen van het artistieke bedrijf op. Hun werk vormt een statement tegen kunst die zich naast de maatschappij plaatst en tegen een vorm van artistieke praktijk die zich verschuilt in de begrenzingen van een medium, van een individueel gevoerd discours of van het ongenaakbare kunstobject. Met een zekere vanzelfsprekendheid en met het plezier van een milde subversie engageren Denicolai en Provoost zich in de complexiteit van het leven. Ze gaan om met de onstabiliteit en de onzekerheid die eigen zijn aan een sociale situatie. Hun ingrepen worden meestal op een uitdagende manier in de publieke ruimte geplaatst, en zoeken als dusdanig een evenwicht tussen chaos en orde. Als geheel lijkt hun werk een reflectie te zijn over hoe een context (beeldend, sociaal, discursief, ...) bepalend is voor een particuliere mentale conditie.
